This is a photo of our local village hall at Brailes, as you can see this is a good sized hall with a generous car parking area. There is a large kitchen and another area that could be used for grooming. Another bonus to this venue is a large camping field with a wooden pavilion housing a cloakroom and showers. Perhaps this is an ideal place for one of the Bedlington Clubs to host their shows. Brailes is about 12 miles west of Banbury which lies on the M40 and is about 20 miles south of Birmingham. What do you think?

looks great lovely open space good size hall, it took us 2 hours 45 mins to get home from there, and that was towing and stopping once for the loo no further than other places, and the price of the hall is the best maureen

Thanks Maureen, thr hire of the hall is only £7 50p per hour, although I think you pay more for the use of the kitchen. It would be so much fun to have a bedlington weekend with the caravans, there is quite a few of us now who camp at shows, I might even bring our caravan and we only live a mile up the road!

Lesley possibly interesting, but photos of the hall would be more useful than photos of grass. i think we have all seen grass fields before. Slightly concerned you say a different area for grooming. Personally especially at club shows i like to see what is going on, you can't do that if the show is in one place and the grooming area elsewhere. Would the main hall be big enough for ring and grooming?

Yvonne the hall is wide enough to have a line of grooming tables down each side with an isle and then a row of spectators chairs. There would not be eonough room for everyone to groom in the hall but there is a large stage that could be used and a room behind the stage. The hall itself is wider than Middleton Cheyney. The middle of the hall has a marked out badmington court and there is lots of room on either side. Brailes is not ideal in its location being west of Banbury and certainly 20 minutes further for most people to travel but If there is interest I will pop up and take photos and measurements.

Yvonne / Lesley,

The hall is approximately 60ft x 30ft, with a addional stage area about 20ft wide x 18ft deep at one end at a higher level. Behind the stage are two "interleading" rooms. Their combined size is approximately 30ft x 12ft. You can walk from the hall, around the side of the stage, through the two rooms and along the other side of the stage back into the hall.

You could probably have about 12 grooming tables/cages down one side of the hall, and another five or six along one end (17-18 in all. Allowing 10ft from the wall to accommodate table, groomer and ringside chairs, you would still have 50ft x 20ft for the "dog ring", which is larger than we had at the last BTA show.

It certainly sounds better than Middleton Cheney. Though how much is difficult to assess. For this photos of the inside may be useful - when you have time Lesley.
Where is the kitchen? does it open into main hall or elsewhere, and is it well equiped? What is the cost for a whole day for use of all facilities?

Yvonne there is a large kitchen off the entrance hall that has a serving counter into the main hall. I would think it is well equiped as they cater for wedding receptions. I will find out the details, costs and take get some inside photos. great weather here today. We are going to the NEC tomorrow for the caravan show may bump into you

I have just spoken to the caretaker and the costs are worked on an hourly rate £7.50 per hour, prep time ( before the event) £3.50 per hour. These rates include the use of the kitchen. Camping is £4 per night. I have made an appointment on Wednesday to take photos of the inside. The kitchen is large with a cooker and is spotlessly clean. I will photgraph the kitchen hall, grooming area behind the stage and front entrance. The entrance hall has seperate gents and ladies cloakrooms.
