Sky is on the mend!
The vets have been letting us visit Skye daily, so today I took my camera. Today she's had all the tubes taken off her, seemed very alert and lively. She's been eating a lot and hasn't been sick once so the steroids must be doing the trick. Although its only early days, hopefully she's on the mend and yes I was sporting my blog sweatshirt!!
This is just fantastic Mathew, what a strong old girl she is, the fact that she is lively and eating proves she feels well, all we need now is for her to be fit enough to go home.

if you click on the picture you can see her "battle wounds".
a bit of fluid is leaking out the wound but the vet said this is normal.
she's becoming a bit of a character in the kennels i think.
she's got the staff running round buying her fresh chicken.
i'm going to visit tomorrow morning and evening so i'll give you an update, as the vet is taking blood tests tomorrow to see if her protein levels have risen.
hopefully with all the food she's had they will have and depending how much damage there is to her stomach.
and again thanks everyone for your support.

they did the operation to have a look round in side her.
there was no cancer or tumours.
the wall of the stomach was very swollen and they wanted to take a biopsy but realised that she would be too old and weak to recover as her protein levels were very low. its called protein-losing enteropathy.
instead they flushed her stomach out and just treated what was in front of them.
she had steroids put into her on a drip and now gets daily injections.
the vet said the first few days would be critical, so far its 2 1/2 days and she' looking good but the worry is she can just as quick take a turn for the worse.
anyway i'm off to the stables with jake, off to tesco to buy skye some chicken, then off to the vets.

ps thanks viv. the pup is looking good. we took our pup round the other day and they had a good play.
