All the Walshaws out to play, I wonder who is in front?
Congratulations to Steve & Sharon, on their new addition.
I am advised that we will have a new show team hitting the ring at Sunderland on 16th December, good luck & remember, you are there to enjoy it! Schedules are now out for Northern Counties Sporting Terrier on 15th March, to be held at West Cornforth (home of the Get Together). Breed specialist judge for Bedlingtons, Alan Vernall. Its the ruby Anniversary show, so plenty of rosettes up for grabs in the classes. We are spoilt for choice for shows scheduling Bedlingtons in February in the North East with breed specialist judges featuring at 3 shows, hopefully they will receive good entries, from the area & possibly others from further afield? The next North East get together is now scheduled for 13th January, pop the date into your diary. This will be the 8th such event.
Suggestion: How about sharing the Thursday North East update around? Different people in the North East could write articles? If you are interested, let Lesley know.
I saw this story & it reminded me of the blog?
An old man, a boy & a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey & the old man walked. As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking & the boy was riding. The man & boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions. Later, they passed some people that remarked, 'What a shame, he makes that little boy walk'!.They then decided they both would walk! Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey. Now they passed some people that shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey. The boy & man said they were probably right, so they decide to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal & he fell into the river and drowned.
The moral of the story? If you try to please everyone, you might as well...
Kiss your ass goodbye! Have A Nice Day & Be Careful With Your Donkey.
Cheers Mark
Thanks Mark. It is certainly difficult at times to keep everyone happy, being positive rather than negative is always better.! Just let me know if you could help Mark with the weekly Northern report, the bigger the blog reporting team the better! Marie has kindly offered to help with Scotland but we still need a reporter for the Kent and the South East.

Hi from Wales,
Happy days, the pants are off, Minty has finished her season, so she is back on speaking terms with her Dad, things can get back to normal! Hefin and Enid had a busy weekend, they mated there bitch Fizz, two good matings so fingers x there will be pups at the end of January. The South Wales Kennel club open show at Merthyr Tydfil, has Chris Mayers as the terrier and group judge, but no Bedlingtons classes, which is a shame. The photo is of Paula's son Finn / Piper / phoebe, taken at Beech Woods Silent Valley Nature Reserve most westerly and highest natural beech wood in Britain, and its on her doorstep. Hints and tips, for caravans / campers, this time how to care for batteries in the cold weather combined with no use. In cold weather, the cells could get damaged, so try to charge it every 6 weeks, ours is still going strong. So speak to you next week. look after yourselves.
Maureen
Thanks Maureen, what a pretty part of Wales Paula lives in, great photo!

Tuesday and it is time to talk to our Midlands reporter Tina

My goodness the weeks just seem to be flying by-seems like only a couple of days ago that I was sending my report to Lesley .Only four weeks 'till Christmas and I haven't done any Christmas shopping to speak of-will be panicking shortly! Tony and Sandra Waller have been under the weather again with a stomach bug, no sooner do they get themselves better and something else strikes, Sandra is looking forward to the end of 07 as it's been a rough year for them. Tony has finally decided he's going to become a silver surfer, Brian is going with him tomorrow to help him buy a computer. My sister in laws pups are thriving although sadly one died on Tuesday, Frosty sensed something wasn't right and kept ousting it from the nest on Monday, the wonder of nature as he looked perfectly normal.
Till next week. Tina
Wow Tina what a gorgeous litter of lurcher pups, oh how I could take a brown one home! Your Colin must be one proud Dad.

Oscar, Larry and Jack at ring craft
Monday and here is our weekly report from Victoria

Monday at obedience Jack was very well behaved and managed to complete most of the tasks. Jack seems to have taken a shine to Maisie the whippet who comes into the next class, he loses all concentration as soon as he sets eyes on her but he is getting better every week.
At ring craft he had his usual mad 5 minutes at the start then he settled down and the penny seemed to drop, he was finally going straight up and down the mats even when he was an inch or two away from the other dogs, he was also standing nicely to finish which is good news as we are showing him on the 6th January. It was good to see Pat with Larry there. Larry seemed to be enjoying himself.
We looked after Larry Friday evening both dogs as usual got on very well but Larry missed Pat a little. My Dad is teaching me to groom Jack and hopefully one day I will start to clip him. Jack stands really well and lets me brush him although he doesn't like his front feet being touched.

Unfortunately everyone else was absent apart from Christine Slatcher. There was only an Open class for Bedlingtons so Christine had to ask her daughter, Shelley, and son Jay to handle as well. Jay also took part in Junior Handling and again was the only one present but he didn't mind as he won some chocolates!
The results were:-
1) Bluesmurf Pure Genius BOB
2) Lilymist Skye Blue at Bluesmurf
3) Mollora Escapade at Bluesmurf
The judge was Mr Scawthorne (Saredon)

Many thanks to Christine for the results, I hope Jay is sharing his chocolates.

Miss American Pie on the move.
Sunday's letter from America by Tricia
I am sorry to say that there is not much bedlington news to report this week. Lesley already posted about Billy's Miss American Pie and aside from that it has been a quiet week in the dog world. Here in the US it was Thanksgiving on Thursday, so it is a big family holiday. A lot of people traveling over the river and through the woods, to visit Grandmother and other family members to share a HUGE turkey dinner and show thanks for friends and family. So people that were not traveling, were busy cooking......turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, squash, mashed potatoes and gravy and of course, the final course, pumpkin pie or pecan pie, followed by ALOT of American football and napping. Thanksgiving is also the kick off to the Christmas season. The day after Thanksgiving is called "black Friday", it is the busiest shopping day of the year, with huge sales and some stores opening at 4am!! Next week I promise to have something about bedlingtons, or at least dogs. That is it from the US. Toodles 'til next time.

Watch This, Fudge and Lesley in Action, Thanks to Harvey Bell for the Video.
From our correspondent in London and the Home Counties
Firstly a big thank you to all who entered the latest competition. It was great fun to judge. Some of you have a great, if rather un-P.C. sense of humour.
Working long hours but took Morris out beating last week, not much better than normal, keen on anything furry but still indifferent to feathered game. Not much use on a pheasant and duck shoot but he fills a gap in the beaters line. We're getting geared up for LKA, the last chance for serious canine shopping before Christmas. We're first in the ring at 09-30 so there should be plenty of shopping time afterwards. It's interesting that a number of Bedlingtons are still in the hunt for Top dog this year and LKA will decide who comes out on top. Gives the competition that bit of extra edge. It should be fun.

Bedlington Blog North East News
from our own correspondent Mr Mark Walshaw

Very wet & cold in the North East today, we've just come in from walking the dogs (1930 hours) & starting to thaw out. The weather forecast for the next few days are no better.
Busy day for the post man at our house this morning, with lots of 'Bedlington' post, in addition to the usual bills & junk mail. Received entry passes for LKA (I always begin to have a bit of a flap if someone advise me that they have received them & I haven't), details for the Bedlington of the Year event to be held at Tollerton, received some stickers I had ordered off the Internet from America (delighted with them for the cost), received my CC certificate from the KC (from Midland Counties) & finally 'dog wise' my copy of Dogs World. It took me about 20 minutes to scan the pages, therefore costs must work out at 10p / minute.
Busy weekend in the North East, with shows taking place on both Saturday & Sunday, hopefully we should get some snaps to share.
Anyone wishing to go for a meal & knees up, as organised by the North East Get together should get in touch with Dawn Bussey, pronto, to book your place.
I am looking forward to the LKA, the last Champ Show of the season at the NEC, I began last night writing out the list of things I need to buy, so trade stands beware, I will be in haggling mood for those bargains!
The photo above is from some years ago, which if I remember right was taken at Sedgefield Agricultural Show, the dog is 'Z' & he went BOB, on what was a gorgeous Summers day. Here's looking forward to both the sunny summer weathers return & the 2008 summer show season.
This is a lovely video clip, of two of our regular visitors to the blog! Who, what where, click on the link to find out
Many thanks to Stewart Bloor for making me smile this evening!
Victoria and Jack working very hard last weekend writing the junior blog report.
We all look forward to hearing from you and Jack every week
Happy Birthday to Ben today, Billy I hope you are giving him a nice big juicy bone and maybe some liver cake many thanks for the photo.
Toby makes a new friend at Brean Sands

Thanks to Trudy for the photo, looks like they had a great time splashing about, the sea doesn't look very warm, rather them than me!
Competition Time!
ONLY 24 HOURS BEFORE THIS COMPETITION CLOSES
Get your thinking caps on for this one! Best song title wins, and Stuart will be our judge.
And the prize? I have just made my Christmas puddings with lots of cherries, nuts, and lashings of brandy! I have made an extra one and will offer it as a prize and can be given at LKA. If you are not going to LKA I will keep it safe for the winner. The scrumptious pudding will mature and be fantastic next year as well!
Closing date Friday 23rd November, you can enter as many times as you like!

Wow look at that gorgeous hulk of a man with his very first Bedlington!

Hi from wales
A little word about Tim's other hobby boxing, the All Saints Boxing Club is still running, but still struggling to find another training hall, we wish them luck. Rheanon had great news in the post, she passed the exam's that the Midland Bedlington Club held which was the Breed specific / Hands on / and Conformation, she was the only Welsh person sitting them, so well done. Speaking to Hefin / Enid, they tell me that Ecco is now an adult dog, as he had his wicked way last week, which put a great big smile on his face, I myself will be glad in 7 days time, when Minty's pants can come of, it's not easy when there is an entire male in the same house, its not fair on the both of them. Tips for the caravan's / camper's, don't forget to leave the fridge door ajar so the air can circulate, or you might get mold spots, or the fridge will smell, also smear the rubber around the windows with silicone, or the same, it will stop the rubber from sticking, I hope these tips are of some use. The photo is of Minty in her pants and my neighbour has not seen them before, so she was amused.
Proud Ralphie and Rebecca Eaves
Congratulations to Ralphie on easily passing his Kennel Club Silver Good Citizen Award yesterday. Ralphie will be carrying on his training to achieve the gold award. I only know of two bedlingtons that have their gold. If you have passed your gold do let me know as maybe one day we can get together and give a Bedlington obedience display at a club event.

What a great photo Tina!
News from Tina in the East Midlands
Well we had the first snow of the year last night which luckily only settled for a couple of hours so I'm hoping that winter is done and dusted!! The patter of tiny paws arrived on Sunday-Frosty is a proud mum of 9 lurcher pups -3 brindle dogs,1 brindle bitch,4 black bitches and 1 black dog-the father wasn't bothered! I will try to get a photo when she is settled with her new arrivals as I don't want to stress and upset her at the moment. I was surprised at her having brindles as she is blue and white and Colin being blue so goodness knows where the brindle comes into the equation. Good news that it's going to be less crowded in hall 1 at Crufts this year-staffys are in hall 2 so that will make more room .Sorry I haven't much to blog about again this week -hope to have something for next time.
Thanks Tina I am sure these pups will soon have new homes waiting, I am looking forward to seeing the photos
Ali Aloishes is an 18 month old blue KC registered dog who is looking for a new home.
My Mum is in very poor health and needs to rehome her bedlington terrier dog. Ali is an entire, one and a half year old blue KC reg dog from show lines (Rotherview/Yarbach). He's a super dog, is vaccinated, chipped, etc and raised with other dogs, cats and young children. We have his sister Molly and both are beautiful dogs. We would take Ali on ourselves but between my partner and I we already have 6 kids, his elderly parents and 4 female dogs so taking on another dog is impossible right now. If you know of anyone looking for a blue bedlington, please let me know. My contact details are: Elaine CharltonTel: 01833 650226 (Barnard Castle, Co Durham)Mob: 07946 543270email: e3e123@hotmail.co.uk or my mum can be contacted direct on 01670 519744 (Morpeth, Northumberland).
This is a super dog and I feel sure will soon find a loving new home.

Thandi Thombi has decided she would like driving lesons!
Let us know when she passes her test Madeline.
Victoria and Jack stay warm by the fire!
At obedience there were only two dogs (Jack and a black labrador). Jack was fine until the whippet came in for the next class, we couldn't get his attention all the time the whippet was in his line of sight.
At ringcraft, Jack wasn't himself, he had an upset tummy Tuesday and just didnt want to be there Thursday evening, he just didn't perform. His best frend Larry came along to ring craft for the first time and we met up with Oscar, it was lovely to see three bedlingtons together. We think Larry enjoyed himself and Pat says she will take him again. It was Jack's birthday on Friday, we brought him a new chewy bone and he had a chocolate brownie with a candle in. He really enjoyed it and had a good day. It doesnt seem like a year since we have had jack he has fitted so well into our family.
Ralphie ,Larry and the two Jacks met up on Saturday, we had a lovely walk on the beach although the weather wasn't too good. The dogs got on well, Jack, Ralphie and Larry were play fighting and running all over the beach, a good time was had by all.
Please, please, please can you give Noddy a home?
Noddy is a 9 year old neutered Bedlington dog whose present owner (due to family commitments) can no longer find the time to devote to him. He is good with children and is up to date with his vaccinations. Noddy is an energetic dog and would benefit from socialisation and training classes. He needs to go to someone who has the time and the commitment to ensure he is happy, well socialised and mentally stimulated.
For further details please ring Frances Fuller on 01 559 384499

Here is Jasper again, I think he has seen a few bunnies in the field!

Tiffanie update
Tiffanie is fine She's at the vet on Friday 23 hopefully to get her pins out. Not much wrong with her. She still managed to fly out the back door 10.30pm and catch a hedgehog and before I could blink she was swinging it in circles over her head, amazing what she can do on three legs!! But naturally I still have to lift her on and off the sofas, especially when she changes her mind as to which one she wants to sit on! Lift her over steps-when she chooses,.... yes she's got this servant wrapped round her little paw.
Trudie
Jeri competing in California with Booker at a North American Dog Agility Trial last weekend
Our Report from Tricia
My report this week comes from California's Wine Country. Wendy Rodriquez finished her 10 month old girl (CH) Elante Echos of Love, by taking her 4th major and going Best of Breed, over special both days at the Wine Country Kennel Club Shows. This is Wendy's first Bedlington champion and she did a great job grooming and handling her herself. Across the country in Florida, Palm Beach County Commissioners want MANDATORY spay/neuter of all cats and dogs, unless there is a documented medical reason for a pet not to be sterilized. Palm Beach County government is proposing a breeder licensing. Verbal information given by Animal Care and Control say requirements would include $100 permit fee (that is about 200 pounds), inspections of breeder's homes and submitting to an invasive background check. Does the UK have regulations like this in different parts of the country? That is it from across the pond. Two more weeks until I pick up my new little girl, Amelia, from Linda Freeman.....that week my report will be all about my adventure to Virginia to get her.
Toodles for now.....Trish
Thank You Tricia, it is great to know what is happening over the pond in Bedlington land. I don't think we have any mandatory regulations here governing the neutering of dogs and cats. On saying this animals that are re homed from a rescue centre are usually neutered before leaving. Congratulations to Wendy Rodriquez on her new champion. Making up a champion in the US is very different to over here. Not many show people know how the points system works. Perhaps you could explain to us or maybe you could give us a link to a website with the information.

Meet our new puppy who we have named "Blue"
Today we met Kevin and his daughters to pick up one of Daisy's pups. We met him at Birmingham, which was very good of him. The pup's name is Blue, named after Skye. He's settling in well with the rest of the gang but he did howl all the way home.
He looks so cute Mathew we will look forward to seeing him grow up, I Know he is going to be terrific as Goldie is his Dad!
Bedlingtons can do it all!
This video clip is of Anton at an agility trial in Scandinavia last month, please do take a few minutes to watch it. Anton got faulted on the dog walk but this Bedlington is fantastic, he has the motivation and drive to be an agility champion. Many congratulations to Siv on training Anton and achieving this high standard.

After
Here is the proof that an apple a day keeps the vet away!

Saturday Notes
Just a quick note from me to wish all of you entered and Dawn who is judging at West Midland Terrier a good day. Safe journey to Mathew who will be driving several hundred miles to collect his lurcher puppy form Kevin in Wales. And finally to Jack Ralphie and possibly Larry who are meeting today, have a great cliff walk, lets hope the weather stays dry for you on the east coast. We will all be looking forward to some photos from these events.
