This is unbelievable, we moved to this village in February! We'd heard about the cruelty case recently but didn't realise they were Bedlingtons. She can't have taken them out and about because Ralphie seems a novelty in the village. Wonder what happened to the rescues, poor things?

Has anybody heard of this woman or bought a puppy from her, I wonder where she had her first bedlington from, we just dont know, just shows you how carefull we must be when selling puppies we try our best, but the thought of one of our dogs ending up like this puts you of breeding.

How appaling! I can,t believe this is the first we have heard of this.Is this another case of the RSPCA not comunicating with breed rescues, who have the breed knowledge and welfare at heart? It also is a reminder to breeders, giving the full picture of what owning a Bedlington entails is of utmost importance.

We also wonder what happened to these dogs. Shoulh the R.S.P.C.A. be made to contact breed clubs in cases like this ???????

I think they should but my experience is that they often dont - My bedlington came via a greyhound and lurcher rescue.

How awful, and on my doorstep, I had enough heartache, seeing where Honey had come from, and you have to go in smiling, Grr.......... by the way is Honey still in Wales, anybody know?love to hear.

Honey is fine having a great life and loves her home... I do not like to interfere cos they are doing a great job.

At least we know she's fine and a job well done!

I rang the RSPCA, they put me in touch with our nearest rehoming centre in Leybourne. The great news is all the dogs were signed over to the RSPCA straight away, and they've all since been re-homed. Sometimes when it goes to court the dogs can't be re-homed until the conclusion of the court case, but luckily in this case the dogs didn't have to wait that long. Let's hope they all found good homes.

I have been helping out with the bedlington rescue for about 12Yrs now, and must have rehomed about a hundred bedlington. The RSPCA have never contacted me at any time, even though they are issued with the kennel clubs rescue directory.

Tina W said...

That's no surprise Tony--the RSPCA are a law unto themselves,I think they think that if they contact breed clubs it's as though they can't do the job themselves.

Thanks Mo, that is good news, funny I met a couple not so long ago whilst walking my two, she had 2 rescue bedlington, not cut like bedlingtons, and a bit wild, wondering if they were 2 of the 13 now.?

It would be nice to find some of the people that rescued the dogs-here's hoping that they read our blog and make contact.
