Help?

Please can anyone  explain to  how Top Sire and Top Stud Dog are determined ??

Surely it is based on the success of the progeny? That would mean that Genie & Chocco's father must be a favourite for top sire. Or am I being very stupid and it isn't worked out like that at all!

Here is the answer from Lorraine at Honeymist

Top stud dog is as follows- When a dog or bitch wins its first cc of the
year it scores five points if it wins a second third or fourth cc during
the year it scores an extra point so that the maximum one dog can score
for its sire is eight points.
Top sire is for the most best puppy wins a puppy wins for its sire.
