Does Anyone Know?

Just for the records does anyone know who and when the last bedlington won the adult group at a champ show? And maybe big Mo can remember when Christine Bell won Best In Show at Paignton?

Many thanks to Derek Owen for the following:

The last winners of a group at a Championship show were (Mesdames P & P Hall & Morton)  Ch Dalip Lord of the Rings at Birmingham City in 2000 under Frank Jones.

The last Bedlington to win Best In Show at a Championship show  was Christine Bell  at Paignton in 1994 with Ch Reef Knot of Rathsrigg, If not mistaken one of only three Bedlington Terriers ever to take this honour at a general championship show in the UK.

Ch. Dalip Lord of the rings won the Terrier Group in , I think, 2001. If I remember correctly, Linda Gent judged the breed and Ken Bounden was the group judge. We stayed to watch the group judging and were the onlt Bedlington people there at the end.

Pam Morton contacted me to say
Ch. Dalip Lord Of The Rings also won the terrier group at SKC under Brenda Banbury in 2000.

Enid you are correct about Ken giving Lord Of The Rings the group it was at Bath in 2000

Also Shirly Davies and Honeymist Blue Trane won the group and was Reserve Best In Show at Birmingham in 1994.

Ch Uk Belg Ned Int Ch Dalip Lord of the Rings won 3 group 1,s in total, (if I am correct)plus several other group placings. He has to date the second highest number of CC,s. The top scoring Bedlington being Ch Vistablu Nelson Touch with an amazing 47 CC,s and Best in Show at the National Terrier to his credit.

The other dogs to go BIS at general champ shows were: Ch Foggyfurze Sugar Baby, Ch Tol-pedn Fairmaid, Ch Stanolly Scooby Doo and Ch Vardene Blue Grenadier (as well as Reef) Ch Vistablu Nelson Touch won BIS at National Terrier and also RBIS (I think) at one of the Birmingham shows. All of these dogs are on the NBTC's Centenary painting

Ooops, sorry - Vardene Blue Grenadier didn't win a BIS - he won the Group at Crufts. The other BIS winner was Ch Northcote Lucky Strike.
