Midland Musings

DSCF1434

Things are quite quiet here in Worcestershire, so lets hope it indicates an end to winter and a welcome arrival of spring! Maya spends much of her walks mouseing on the common, as she is totally out of coat she looks like a bedlington in negative, white rear end/ black face and front legs. There is also a huge amount of badger activity, though I,d rather she didn't go seeking out those guys lol. Arthur and Erin are growing up rapidly, not that we don,t have silly puppy moments from time to time. There is even the odd moment of "happy bladder", as their sister Graces owner Marion so eloquently put it! Erin's delight last night at ringcraft on seeing Archie the Irish Terrier caused a near flood. They seemed to thoroughly enjoy their day at the MBTC on Saturday, especially pleased to she their pal Enzo, this weekend we are hoping for a bit of a family reunion and meeting up with sister Esther.
I have been having fun reading through some wonderful old archive stuff, donated by a bedlington friend, at least when I can find a moment to do so. It is interesting to read how the last big recession, (end of 70,s/early 80,s), took it’s toll on both bedlinegton showing and ownership. Let,s hope the strength of the breed this time round will endure and indeed continue to flourish. Jane

Thank you Jane,  it is nice to see some sunshine and warmer days, ideal dog walking weather.
When you see the number of litters born each year  the bedlingtons seems to be doing very well. Saying this it would nice to see more younger handlers in the show ring. To encourage new owners we need to promote the bedlington as a fun performance breed capable of joining in many canine activities. .
