Our Visit To The Puppet and Wool Festivals

Last weekend we had a lovely time visiting Skipton. We had many childhood holidays in the area, but had not been back for many years. We visited friends but also went to a new wool festival: Yarndale. The organisers were amazed at the thousands of people who attended. The route from the cars parks was marked with miles of bunting, and there was a double decker bus from the station also covered in crochet flowers. At the  same time there was the biennial puppet festival, with a fantastic parade on Sunday – here are just a few. The sheep headed the procession (Skipton – the name is derived from Sheep Town) We were lucky with excellent weather. There is a nice campsite at Bolton Abbey and so many good walks and nice villages to explore, I’m sure we will be back.
Best wishes

Thank you Sarah, what a  wonderful fun packed weekend. How lucky to be able to visit the two festivals  in the same weekend.  Goodness, a double decker bus covered in crochet flowers, I wonder how many ladies were involved with the crocheting? The puppets look fantastic lots of enthusiastic people prepared for these festivals.

Looked like a good outing. We like to go to Skipton though normally stay at Grassington club site.

These pics define one of the MANY reasons that I enjoy England so very much. You people enjoy life so much and with your dogs along side of you. Americas have forgotten these pleasures.
